Art Picture Book
A book born from the drawings and words Emi Hirai collected like a diary during the COVID-19 pandemic, when live performances came to a halt. Even when we look at the same scene, each of us sees and feels something different. Through drawings and words, the book invites us to reflect on our own sense of “I” and that of others.

PERFORMANCE BOOK
A book based on Tonbi: The Beat of the Soul, a performance exploring the illegal industrial waste dumping on Teshima and life on the island in its aftermath. Combining words and visuals developed during the creative process, it takes the form of a film programme. As readers turn the pages, they can revisit images that pass fleetingly across the stage and trace the words that emerged while making the work.

The Miracle of the Deigo Trees

PUBLICATION / ZINE
A zine based on a story told to us by a child in Okinawa about two deigo trees that survived the devastation of war. Unlike the performance and installation inspired by the same story, the zine allows readers to experience the work by holding it in their hands and turning its pages.
